Commitment based rather than emotional based reasons for staying in a job aren't good for employers or employees. Feelings of competence and mobility may create a better bond and longer stay in a position.

Can the same be said about community? I suggest something very similar in my sense of community research: the desire to stay (and feeling of choice) is what makes strong community. Not the inability to leave and being forced to work with others.
